Fuel consumption, thoughtful ergonomics, reliability
Weak sound insulation, thin paint, stiff suspension
I bought a 2018 Ceed (1.6L, Comfort) in early 2019 with 8,000 km on the odometer. I drive it in the city, to the countryside, and occasionally on highways up to 400 km from home. Fuel consumption stays around 8 L/100 km in the city and 6–6.5 L/100 km on the highway. The seats are comfortable, all controls are within reach, and even after 5 hours behind the wheel there’s no discomfort. After 70,000 km — no major repairs, only scheduled maintenance, and the 7-year warranty is reassuring.
However, sound insulation isn’t great: at 110+ km/h the tire noise and wind whistle are tiring. There are already a couple of stone chips on the hood, as the paint is soft. The suspension is stiff, with the rear end especially sensitive to potholes. Great for family and work use, but on long high-speed trips you’d want more comfort and quiet.
