Porsche and Frauscher Return to the Water: Electric Boat Featuring Macan Technology

The partnership between Porsche and the Austrian shipyard Frauscher has reached a new stage

At the boot Düsseldorf 2026 exhibition, the sporty electric boat Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre was unveiled, accompanied by the conceptual crossover Macan Turbo Lago. The project clearly illustrates how automotive technologies and design approaches can be adapted for marine transport.

Continuation of the German-Austrian Partnership

Joint projects between Porsche and Frauscher are no longer purely experimental. Earlier, the companies showcased the larger 850 Phantom Air model, and now they have expanded the range with a new 7.97-meter boat. At the same time, the key aspect of the collaboration remains unchanged — the use of production electric components from Porsche in marine applications.

The Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre is based on the powertrain of the electric Porsche Macan Turbo. The boat’s architecture was originally engineered around the automotive high-voltage module, which minimized the need for unit adaptations.

Electric Powertrain

The boat features a rear electric motor producing 400 kW (544 hp) and a 100 kWh battery pack. The overall configuration mirrors the automotive setup, with only minor adjustments for water-based operation. The control electronics and drive modes are also derived from the Macan.

Several driving modes are available:

  • Range — an efficiency-focused mode offering a maximum range of approximately 100 kilometers;
  • Sport Plus — a full-performance mode enabling speeds of up to 90 km/h;
  • intermediate settings for daily use.

Design and Porsche Elements

Both externally and internally, the Frauscher 790 Spectre distinctly embodies Porsche’s signature DNA. The helm features a car-style steering wheel, the start button is positioned on the left, and the digital instrument cluster is styled after the brand’s five classic dials.

The new Darkteal Metallic color serves as a shared element between the boat and the Macan Turbo Lago concept. This shade was developed under the Paint to Sample personalization program and is available for both vehicles and the boat.

Macan Turbo Lago as a Design Exercise

The conceptual Porsche Macan Turbo Lago, developed by the Sonderwunsch division, is not slated for series production. Its purpose is to visually highlight the nautical connection. The crossover’s interior incorporates yacht-like materials: natural wood in the front and rear cargo areas, on the floor, and door panels.

In place of the Sport Chrono sports chronograph, the cabin features a compass, while the central sections of the seats are covered in the same water-resistant fabric used on the boat.

Project Status and Cost

While the Macan Turbo Lago remains a show concept, the Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre is now available to order. The exact price is not publicly disclosed and is available on request. For reference, the larger boat from the previous generation in this partnership started at approximately 600,000 euros.

Conclusion

The Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre project illustrates the practical application of automotive electric technologies beyond the road. By integrating production Porsche components with Frauscher’s marine design, it establishes a distinct category in premium electric marine transport.
