Manufacturers from China, previously known mainly for affordable prices, are beginning to show noticeable progress in safety and handling. Comparative tests by European organizations allow for an assessment of how significantly the quality of such products has changed and what position they hold among established leaders.

Evolution of Chinese Products

About two decades ago, Chinese automotive products were seen as budget alternatives, lagging in most parameters. The main advantage was low cost, but quality, safety, and technical characteristics often did not meet buyer expectations. Over time, manufacturers began actively investing in development, attracting specialists from other countries, and modernizing production processes.

These changes have gradually impacted test results and the perception of products on the international market. Chinese companies have started improving the characteristics of their items while maintaining competitive pricing.

Test Results on Wet Surfaces

The European organization Auto Club Europa conducted a comparative test of summer tires in size 225/40 R18. This size is widely used in modern mid-class vehicles, including popular hatchback and sedan models. During the tests, key safety parameters were evaluated, including braking efficiency, stability on wet surfaces, and handling.

One of the participants was the Chinese tires Linglong Sport Master. In wet road braking from 80 km/h, they showed a stopping distance of about 25.38 meters. This value was comparable to the results of leading global manufacturers and only slightly behind the best samples.

Handling and Road Behavior

Particularly notable was the result in wet surface handling. Here, the Chinese model demonstrated a high level of stability and control. This indicates significant progress in the development of rubber compounds and tread design.

On dry roads, the difference between test participants was also relatively small. Even the best models from well-known brands provided a braking distance of about 32.85 meters from 100 km/h, and the Chinese tires' figures were in a close range. This confirms that the gap in technical characteristics between manufacturers is gradually narrowing.

Price-to-Performance Ratio

One of the key factors remains the cost of the products. Chinese tires maintain a price advantage, offering characteristics close to more expensive models from renowned brands. This makes them an attractive option for drivers who focus on the balance between price and functionality.

At the same time, premium models continue to show the best results in comprehensive tests. However, the differences are becoming less pronounced than before.

Significance of Changes for the Automotive Market

The improvement in the quality of Chinese tires reflects a broader process of development in the automotive industry as a whole. Manufacturers are actively refining technologies and expanding their presence on the global market. The growth in the technical level of products allows them to compete with traditional brands not only on price but also on performance characteristics.

Conclusions

The results of comparative tests show that Chinese tire manufacturers have significantly improved the quality of their products. Their models demonstrate competitive safety and handling indicators, especially on wet roads. While maintaining affordable costs, this allows them to strengthen positions on the international market and gradually reduce the gap with leading global brands.
