Bold exterior, sharp throttle response, reliable stability
Low ground clearance, vague automatic gearbox performance, limited trunk space, lack of cabin space, weak sound insulation
I bought this Tucson in the “Elegance” trim with a 2.0-liter engine and all-wheel drive from an official dealer. Before that, I had nearly twenty years of experience with German (BMW 3, 5 Series, X5) and Japanese (Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Prado) cars.
What I liked:
– Koreans know how to design stylish, modern-looking cars.
– On the highway, it holds its line confidently, even in faster corners.
– The suspension is tuned a bit softer than many crossovers, smoothing out bumps.
– In Sport mode, the engine responds eagerly to the throttle.
What disappointed me:
– Poor right-side visibility, with a narrow window and thick pillar, and the rear camera gets dirty quickly.
– The gearbox sometimes engine-brakes on its own.
– Dirt collects on the inner door sills.
– Button and switch layout feels chaotic.
Overall: An interesting experience, but I don’t regret selling it. A nice crossover with some irritating quirks.
