The German tuning firm Brabus has unveiled another radical interpretation of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class

The new model named 900 Rocket Edition is built on the current Mercedes-AMG G 63 and demonstrates the tuner's approach to combining maximum power, expressive design, and deep customization. The model is targeted at a limited group of clients and illustrates how far one can go in enhancing a production SUV.

Project Base and Exterior Design

The base is the most powerful production G-Class of the W465 generation. Brabus has reworked the classic angular shape with an extensive carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit. This includes new bumpers, widened fenders, a large air intake on the hood, a roof spoiler, and decorative elements around the side exhaust outlets.

A key exterior feature is the 24-inch Monoblock II EVO Platinum Edition wheels. Their three-spoke design references Brabus models from the late 1980s, while aerodynamic inserts are intended to reduce drag at high speeds.

Upgraded Engine

The technical aspects received the primary focus of modifications. The starting point is the production 4.0-liter V8 with twin turbocharging and a mild hybrid system. However, Brabus increased the engine displacement to 4.5 liters. The design incorporates forged pistons and connecting rods, a custom crankshaft, larger turbochargers, and an upgraded management system.

As a result, the power output has increased from 585 to 900 hp, with maximum torque reaching 1050 Nm. An electronic limit is imposed to preserve the transmission's durability. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.7 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 240 km/h.

Interior and Equipment

The interior has been completely redesigned in Brabus's signature style. It features black leather combined with Dinamica microfiber, along with extensive carbon fiber inserts. Contrast is provided by red control elements and decorative accents.

The carbon fiber shift paddles include LED shift indicators. For rear passengers, additional instruments are mounted on the ceiling, displaying speed and lateral acceleration levels.

Production Run and Pricing

The Brabus 900 Rocket Edition is limited to a global series of 30 units. One of the completed vehicles is already offered for sale. Its price is 678,145 euros, which is approximately three times the cost of a standard Mercedes-AMG G 63.

Summary

The Brabus 900 Rocket Edition represents the maximum level of enhancement for a production G-Class as a road vehicle. The project combines extreme technical specifications, distinctive design, and a high degree of customization, remaining a niche offering for a select group of buyers.
