Pleasant interior and seating, lively handling, reasonable fuel consumption when driving calmly, sense of solid build quality, decent performance for its class
Multimedia lags when connecting the phone, occasional hesitation or shudder during eco driving, road and wind noise noticeable in the cabin, sensitive assist systems and sensors
I got a 2023 Mazda CX-30 with a 2.0 Skyactiv-G engine and automatic transmission, and have driven about 28,000 km in mixed city and highway use. I initially wanted just a compact crossover but ended up with a car that’s genuinely enjoyable to drive – lively, balanced handling that feels better than many rivals. When driving calmly, fuel consumption stays reasonable. The interior is nice, seats are comfortable, everything fits well and gives a solid quality impression. Phone connection has a quirk – the multimedia sometimes lags, especially when auto-connecting via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, which is annoying when you need to quickly switch music or navigation. Occasionally, during gentle acceleration in eco mode, there’s a slight hesitation. Noise insulation is average – wind and road noise seep into the cabin at higher speeds. Assist systems and sensors are helpful but sometimes overly sensitive. No major issues so far, minor electronic glitches were fixed under warranty. Overall, it’s for those who want a compact, engaging crossover with a quality feel, willing to accept minor multimedia and noise quirks.
