Fuel economy, spacious cabin, proven reliability
Weak performance, noisy on highways, stiff suspension
Bought a 2020 Niro Hybrid EX 1.6L in mid-2021 with 10,000 km on the clock. Mostly drive in the city and occasionally to the countryside (about 30 km). City consumption stays around 5–5.5 L/100 km, and on the highway it manages 4.5 L. Two kids sit comfortably in the back, and the 427L trunk fits a stroller and all essentials. After 48,000 km, no major breakdowns, only scheduled oil and filter changes, and the 7-year warranty inspires confidence. However, the engine feels underpowered for highway overtakes, requiring revs up to 3000 rpm, which gets noisy. Above 110 km/h, wind and tire noise are noticeable. The suspension is stiff, and over large bumps the rear axle bounces noticeably. Great for city and short trips, but for long-distance travel, more comfort and power would be welcome.
