The article examines the model's origins, its design, dimensions, technology, and market positioning, as well as the reasons why the vehicle will not appear in Europe.
Model Origins and Positioning
At the beginning of the year, Renault announced the preparation of a new large luxury SUV without revealing details. Later, it became known that the model was not created from scratch: it is based on the Chinese Geely Xingyue L, produced since 2021. The French brand preferred not to emphasize this fact, but the adaptation turned out to be deeper than it might seem at first glance.
The vehicle received its own name, Filante, and a significantly reworked appearance. Despite the common origins, it is perceived as an independent model and visually corresponds to the brand's flagship status.

Design and Dimensions
The exterior of the new SUV is maintained in a modern and restrained-luxury style. The proportions appear more dynamic than those of the original Chinese model, and the body lines emphasize Renault's aspiration to enter a higher segment.
The vehicle's length is 4.92 meters, with a wheelbase of 2.82 meters. This is the largest serial Renault to date. Due to the increased dimensions, the interior and luggage compartment are more spacious: the trunk volume reaches 654 liters, which is noticeably larger than in the original model.
Technical Aspects
Filante is built on the modular CMA platform and equipped with a hybrid powertrain. At its core is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine working in conjunction with two electric motors. The transmission is a three-speed DHT automatic, and the traction battery capacity is equivalent to 1.64 liters in energy volume.
The total system power reaches 250 horsepower. Considering the mass exceeding two tons, acceleration to 100 km/h takes about 8 seconds. The main emphasis is not on dynamics but on smooth ride and versatility in everyday operation.
Interior and Equipment
The interior is designed in a digital vein. The front panel is occupied by a single panel of three 12.3-inch displays each, combined into the OpenR Panorama Screen system. It is complemented by a 25.6-inch head-up display.
Depending on the trim level, available features include:
- Arkamys or Bose audio systems,
- panoramic roof,
- three-zone climate control,
- advanced driver assistance systems.

Sales Geography
Production of the model will be established in Busan, South Korea. Sales will start first in South Korea, then the vehicle will appear in the markets of South America and the Middle East. The European market is not included in Renault's plans, despite the model's potential in competition with large crossovers from mass and premium brands.
Conclusion
The new flagship SUV from Renault combines striking design, large dimensions, and modern hybrid technology. Despite the borrowed platform, the model appears cohesive and competitive. However, the limited sales geography makes it a rare offering, inaccessible to a significant portion of the potential audience.
