Bought a 2023 Tesla Model Y, rear-wheel drive, Long Range. Wanted to try an electric car, everyone was raving about it being the future and all that. Honestly, my feelings are mixed, leaning toward disappointment. Yes, it’s got good dynamics, pulls really well, takes off from a standstill. But that’s about where the positives end. First thing that gets on my nerves is the suspension—it’s just brutally stiff. On smooth roads, it’s fine, but hit a pothole, and bam, you feel the jolt through your whole body. My previous Kia Sportage rode way smoother. With the Tesla, it feels like you’re sitting on a wooden stool. Then there’s the sound insulation—or rather, the lack of it. On the highway, there’s a constant hum, you hear the tires all the time, and the wind howls, especially if it’s coming from the side. The interior started creaking after 6,200 miles, especially in the cold when the plastic gets brittle and the dashboard rattles—it’s enough to drive you nuts. A car at this price, creaking like an old Logan? Charging is a whole separate headache. In the city, there aren’t enough chargers, and there’s always a line. On the highway, it’s a quest to find one that works. In cold weather, forget it—the range drops like crazy, showing 186 miles instead of 280, and it drains faster than your coffee cools. Turn on the heater, and you’re driving while wondering, ‘Will I make it or not?’ The screen looks nice but sometimes just freezes. Once, in the middle of the road, it went black—nothing, no climate control, no cameras, nada. Had to restart it, standing on the side of the road like an idiot. Seriously, in a car that costs 60 grand, this is what you get? Overall, it’s futuristic, sure, but it feels half-baked. Looks great in photos and ads, but in reality, it’s a bunch of small, annoying issues. After the initial month of excitement, you just start getting irritated. Honestly, I wouldn’t buy it again. I’d rather go for a solid hybrid or gas car than deal with this hassle.
