I’ve got a 2017 Peugeot 3008 (though I’ve got some gripes with Peugeot in general), 1.6 turbo engine, automatic. I bought it when I was looking at compact crossovers—looks great on the outside, with a “European” interior. But after a couple of years, I realized it’s not all smooth sailing. The electronics are my biggest nightmare. Driver assistance systems, touchscreen display, multimedia—something’s always malfunctioning. Sometimes the touchscreen “freezes,” sometimes the climate control hangs, sometimes the mirrors won’t fold. Once, while driving, the display went blank, and I had to manually fiddle with the settings. The suspension is noisy, especially on bad roads. Hit a pothole—bam, a jolt. Another one—creak, clunk. The body is prone to chips, the paint is thin, I’ve had to touch it up a couple of times already, and the sills have started rusting on the inside. The engine isn’t a powerhouse; it pulls decently, but when loaded, like during an overtake, it struggles. The automatic gearbox “thinks” longer than I’d like. It can jerk, especially in traffic. Parts are outright robbery. Originals are insanely expensive, aftermarket ones don’t always fit, and deliveries can take forever. Even a routine service with a few items racks up a hefty bill. Overall, the Peugeot is a beautiful car with character, but it comes with a ton of quirks. If you’re getting one, be ready for lots of little hassles and extra costs. I’m not sure I’d buy it again if I were choosing now.
