I bought the Hyundai Kona Electric last summer and have already driven 17,000 km. This wasn’t my first EV, but the Kona still pleasantly surprised me. In summer, I can get close to 400 km on a single charge; in winter, it drops to around 300 km, which I expected. The design is futuristic, with slim LED headlights and sharp side lines. The trunk is almost 500 liters, easily fitting gear for a weekend trip, and the rear seats are roomy thanks to the long wheelbase. Inside, there are two large screens, and the interface is intuitive and lag-free. The suspension can feel too firm on rough roads, with potholes sending jolts into your back. The driver-assist systems can be overzealous, triggering false alerts, so I turn them off after each start. Fast charging from 10% to 80% takes about 40 minutes — not record-breaking, but acceptable. The small front trunk is only good for storing the cable. Overall, the Kona Electric is a great family car: affordable, practical, and with a decent range.
