Bought a 2023 BMW M5 Competition in March and have already put 1,000 km on it. It really moves – 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2–3.3 seconds, feels like you’re being thrown into the seat. The automatic shifts lightning fast, and the M xDrive all-wheel drive can be quickly switched to rear-wheel drive. In the city it consumes about 18–20 L/100 km, on the highway around 10–12 L – keep that in mind if you drive daily. The interior is awesome – carbon fiber, leather, sport seats hold you firmly, iDrive is convenient and everything is within reach. You can hear tire noise on bad roads, the suspension is a bit stiff, but that’s normal for this kind of car. Maintenance is expensive, but if you don’t mind the costs and want pure power and comfort – buy it and enjoy.

I bought my BMW M5 Competition (F90) in April last year, now with around 12,000 km on it, and it truly impresses on the track: the 4.4-liter V8 biturbo with 625 hp launches from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds — like being pushed in the back. In the city, it’s extremely confident: the gearbox shifts quickly, steering assist is precise, but sometimes I catch myself forgetting about fuel consumption — around 20–22 L/100 km in the city, and on the highway at 130–140 km/h it’s about 10–11 L. The interior is a real cocoon with Merino leather and sports seats that hold you in corners, and the iDrive multimedia system with a large screen looks like a gadget from the future. However, double glazing and sound insulation still can’t fully suppress tire noise on freshly resurfaced sections. The suspension is quite firm: on our roads every bump is felt in your back, though on the highway it feels perfectly appropriate. Servicing at the official dealer isn’t cheap — with insurance and brake pad replacement it adds up to a decent amount, especially if ordering carbon trims or branded accessories. On the other hand, once you’re behind the wheel, all expenses fade away: the steering wheel fits perfectly in your hands, the engine sound makes you stand out on the road, and the cornering handling makes you forget potholes. If you’re ready to pay for upkeep and want to feel a true sports sedan both in daily life and on the track — the M5 Competition will justify the cost.
